The replacement for the Astral ZX 100
The XC range has replaced Astral’s ZX cartridge filters. If your ZX 100 has cracked or worn out, the XC 100 is the current model to look at. It takes the same SP78097 cartridge element as the ZX 100, so any spare elements you already have will fit, and you can keep buying the same element in future.
Please note that the plumbing connections on the XC range are not the same as on the old ZX filters. When you replace a ZX with an XC, some changes to the plumbing will need to be made. Send us a photo of your current setup and we can let you know what’s involved.

Frequently asked questions
Does the XC 100 replace the Astral ZX 100?
Yes. The XC range has replaced the ZX range, and the XC 100 takes the same SP78097 element as the ZX 100. The plumbing is different on the XC, so some changes will need to be made when you swap it over.
Will my old ZX 100 cartridge fit the XC 100?
Yes. The XC 100 uses the same SP78097 element as the ZX 100, so any spares you have won’t go to waste.
How much taller is it than my ZX 100?
The XC 100 is 800mm tall, which is 90mm taller than the previous model Astral ZX 100 at 710mm. Before you buy, measure the space above your current filter, especially if it sits under a bench, deck or equipment cover.
What size pool does the XC 100 suit?
Astral rates it to turn over up to 90,000 litres in 4 hours, or 135,000 litres in 6 hours. Give us your pool size and pump size and we’ll check it’s the right fit.
What size pump suits it?
The XC 100 suits pumps from 750W to 1100W (roughly 1hp to 1.5hp). If you have a bigger pump, the
XC 150 may be a better match. Send us a photo of your pump label and we can check it for you.
Do I need to backwash the XC 100?
No. Cartridge filters don’t backwash. You take the element out and hose it clean, which uses around 100 litres of water.
How fine does it filter?
The pleated element filters down to 10–20 microns, which is finer than a standard sand filter.
What warranty does it come with?
The XC 100 comes with a 5 year warranty. The filter element, o-rings and gasket seals are covered for 1 year, as these are parts that wear with normal use.
Can I buy it online?
The XC 100 is available in store only, so give Nicole a call on 0412 561 620 or send us an email for current pricing and stock. You can also visit our shop at 211 Stirling Highway, Claremont, which is open 7 days, 9am to 5pm. We deliver across Perth and WA.
Can you help me choose the right filter?
Yes. That’s what we’re here for. We’ve been helping Perth pool owners for more than 25 years, and we’re happy to talk it through so you get the right filter the first time.
